Cardinal Bertram Reassures Bishops that Pope Pius XII is Impartial on War

Cardinal Adolf Bertram, Archbishop of Breslau, reassures the German bishops that Pope Pius XII is strictly impartial in the current war. Apparently, the German episcopate was becoming worried that the pope might begin to directly criticize Germany for its unprovoked invasions of other countries and for its treatment of the people in occupied territories.

Now, however, they can rest easier in the knowledge that the pope will not use any of his moral authority to criticize or condemn any of the crimes being committed by the Nazis against other human beings - not even against other Catholics.
