Bishop James Ussher dies at the age of 76. Born and raised in Dublin, Ireland, James Ussher studied at Trinity College and was appointed to the position of the Archbishop of Armagh, Ireland in 1645.

Later James Ussher moved to England to become one of the most famous theologians of the English Reformation. One of his principle claims to fame was that he calculated the date of creation to 4004 BCE by tracing the lineages in the King James Bible, material which appeared in his book Annales Veteris et Novi Testamenti and which was included in the King James version of the Bible as authoritative until late in the 19th century.
