Erwin Schrödinger dies in Vienna, Austria. An important physicist and the founder of quantum mechanics, Schrödinger received the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1933 for the Schrödinger equation and is perhaps most widely known for the Schrödinger's cat thought experiment which he first proposed in 1935.
