The Fulda Bishops' Conference threatens to close all Catholic publications if the recently created restrictions on Catholic press freedoms are not lifted. Joseph Goebbels refuses to budge and the bishops decide not to carry through on their threat.

This demonstrates to the Nazi leaders that the Catholic bishops are unlikely to ever do anything very serious against the Nazi government, no matter what.
