Robert Nozick dies in Cambridge, Massachusetts. While teaching at Harvard University, he published Anarchy, State, and Utopia in which he argued that so long as the distribution of goods and wealth in a society occurs through free exchanges among consenting adults, then the final result is necessarily just and fair.
