Death of Reich Minister of Justice Franz Gürtner

Reich Minister of Justice Franz Gürtner dies; he will be replaced by Franz Schlegelberger the next day. Although he joined the Nazi Party late, and even then only on orders from Adolf Hitler, Schlegelberger will be an important factor in the destruction of the independent principle of the rule of law in Nazi Germany.

Franz Schlegelberger is always eager to undermine the rule of law so that Adolf Hitler is able to get whatever he wants. This becomes easier once Schlegelberger is appointed Reich Minister of Justice, though he won't last long in this position because even he defends the independence of the judiciary too much.
