A festival in Munich commemorating the 300th anniversary of a statue of the Virgin Mary is broken up by Nazis. The statue was elaborately decorated and around 2,000 Catholics gathered around it to sing hymns, but a couple of groups of thugs, presumably Nazis, arrived to break it up.

It is believed that this has been inspired by a speech given on Friday by Adolf Wagner, Bavarian Minister of the Interior, in which he criticized Cardinal Faulhaber for asking for police protection. In fact, Faulhaber was supposed to be at the festival today but decided not to attend after his palace was attacked in a small riot yesterday.
