Pope Liberius dies. He has the dubious distinction of being the first pope not to be canonized by the Roman Catholic Church.

The reasons why are not clear, but he seems to have been compromised by some heresy. Under pressure from Emperor Constantius II in Constantinople, Pope Liberius agreed to enter into communion with Arians, declared heretics at the Council of Nicea.
