City of Toulouse Recaptured by Raymond VI of Toulouse

Raymond VI of Toulouse

Raymond VI of Toulouse recaptures the city of Toulouse from the Crusaders. Simon IV de Montfort, 5th Earl of Leicester, quickly launches another siege of the city in order to remove Raymond and eliminate the Cathars once and for all.

Next June the siege is still going and Simon is killed, forcing his son Amaury VI of Montfort to take his place; as a result, the Crusade will begin to falter. This will allow Raymond and his own successor to recapture significant territory.
