Houston Stewart Chamberlain is born in Southsea, England. Chamberlain will become a naturalized German citizen and write the infamous book Die Grundlagen des neunzehnten Jahrhunderts (The Foundations of the Nineteenth Century).

This viciously anti-Semitic book argues that Western civilization has been largely defined by the work of Germans and that everything good about Western civilization can be traced back to them. Everything bad in Western civilization and history, however, can be traced directly to the Jews.

In fact, Western civilization would have been destroyed long ago had the Germanic tribes not conquered the Roman Empire, which was at the time being taken over by Jews.

The idea that Germans had saved the West in the past through military conquest will prove influential to those who argue that Germany needs to do so again, though this time to destroy the Jewish-created ideology of Bolshevism.

The concept of race, and that a particular race can be inherently good or evil, will play a significant role in this book as well as Chamberlain's thinking generally.

He will even argue that while Jesus may have been part of the Jewish religion, he wasn't Jewish by race. This argument will become popular with Germans trying to develop an "Aryan Christianity" during the Nazi era.

Chamberlain's writings will, unsurprisingly, become massively influential in Germany, especially after World War I.
