Philipp Bouhler is born in Munich, Germany. Along with Dr. Karl Brandt, Bouhler will become head of the Nazi euthanasia program Aktion T4 (Operation T4). This will make him one of the chief architects and administrators of a mass-killing program that serves as a model for the Holocaust.

He will be one of the earliest members of the Nazi Party, joining in 1922 and having membership number 12. This makes it possible for him to hold several important Nazi Party and government positions before the end of World War II.

As head of the Chancery of the Führer, Bouhler will be responsible for handling much of the communication that comes in for Adolf Hitler, deciding what gets passed along for consideration by the Führer and what doesn't.

As Chairman of the "Official Party Inspection Commission for the Protection of National Socialist Literature" (Kanzlei des Führers und Vorsitzender der Parteiamtlichen Prüfungskommission zum Schutze des NS-Schrifttums), Bouhler will be responsible for deciding what writings are and are not suitable for Germany.
