American philosopher Josiah Royce dies in Cambridge, Massachusetts at the age of 60.

As an objective idealist philosopher, Royce argued that in order to believe in an orderly and coherent world, it is also necessary to presuppose the existence of an absolute perspective from which our world is indeed orderly and from which universal laws operate.

This philosophy of absolute idealism was strongly influenced by Hegel and in turn influenced later theologians and apologists.
