Ellsworth Huntington of Yale University and Leon F. Whitney, executive secretary of the Eugenics Society of America, publish the book The Builders of America to promote their ideas about eugenics.

According to the two writers, unless birth control is eliminated in the "upper classes" and its use encouraged in the "lower classes," the most valuable portion of American society will die out, and America will be overrun by the inferior. They also warn that, within two or three centuries, all beautiful women and all smart women will be gone.
